NSF Career Award Winner: Farhad Imani

We’re thrilled to announce that MEM faculty member, Dr. Farhad Imani, has been awarded the prestigious NSF CAREER Award, one of the National Science Foundation’s highest honors for early‑career scholars. This competitive award recognizes exceptional faculty who demonstrate outstanding potential as researchers, educators, and future leaders in their fields.

Dr. Imani earned this distinction for his project, Integrated Digital Thread for Self‑Evolving Cooperative Robotics Remanufacturing, an innovative effort that pushes the boundaries of robotics and digital manufacturing. His work aims to transform the future of remanufacturing and how machine-learning can advance the manufacturing industry. Imani’s project will give UConn students hands-on experience with robotic platforms, AI-driven decision-making, sensing systems, and digital twins. Imani said, “We’re building engineers who can design, think, and invent the manufacturing systems of tomorrow.”
